Forum Rules: Use of AI in Photography
To preserve creativity, fairness, and transparency within our photography community, the following rules apply to all AI-assisted or AI-enhanced images posted on this forum.1. Original Photography Required
- All images must originate from a photograph taken by the member posting it.
- You must own the rights to the original image.
- Fully AI-generated images (created from text prompts or without a photographic base) are not permitted.
- You may not post AI images generated from someone else’s photograph.
2. AI Content Must Be Posted in the AI Folder
- Any image that includes AI-assisted editing, enhancement, or manipulation must be posted in the designated AI Editing & Enhancement section.
- Images using AI tools should not be posted in standard critique or competition folders unless explicitly allowed.

3. Full Disclosure Is Required
When posting an AI-assisted image, you must clearly disclose:- What AI tool(s) were used
- What specific changes were made
- Whether elements were added, removed, replaced, or significantly altered
Failure to disclose AI usage may result in post removal.
4. Permitted AI Uses
The following AI-assisted edits are allowed (with disclosure):- Noise reduction
- Sharpening
- Upscaling
- Sky replacement
- Object removal
- Background enhancement/replacement
- Colour grading assistance
- Minor generative fill adjustments
5. Prohibited AI Uses
The following are not allowed:- Fully AI-generated images
- Creating an image primarily from text prompts
- Submitting composite AI scenes where the majority of the content was generated rather than photographed
- Using AI to fabricate documentary, wildlife, or journalistic moments
- Using images you did not capture as the base photo
6. Ethical Standards
- AI must not be used to intentionally mislead members about how an image was created.
- Documentary-style images should not have AI-added subjects, animals, people, or events.
- Members must maintain honesty about their workflow.
7. Competitions & Featured Sections
Unless otherwise stated:- AI-assisted images are excluded from competitions.
- Competition rules will specify whether AI edits are allowed.
- RAW files may be requested to verify originality.
8. Moderation & Enforcement
- Moderators may request clarification about AI usage.
- Posts that fail to follow disclosure rules may be moved or removed.
- Repeated violations may result in warnings or account suspension.
